A US federal judge has halted President Donald Trump’s ban on transgender individuals serving in the military, based on the principles of equality.
Judge Ana C. Reyes referenced the US Declaration of Independence, which affirms that all are created equal, in suspending the late January order barring transgender people from the armed forces.
The suspension will be paused until 21 March to allow Government time to seek an emergency stay.
Trump’s ao anJanuary 27 order claimed that false gender identity could not meet military standards and directed the Pentagon to restrict transgender troops’ access to medical care.
