A clandestine plot to orchestrate the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan using falsified signatures has been exposed.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing Kogi Central, is currently serving a six-month suspension after accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment and bullying.
A statement by Coordinator of Kogi-based pressure group, Action Collective, Dr. Onimisi Ibrahim, claims the plan is a desperate attempt to silence the senator and block her from seeking justice.
Sources allege that operatives are recruiting individuals across the state to forge signatures in exchange for financial rewards. Additionally, some high-ranking officials have allegedly been influenced to legitimise the process, raising concerns about electoral integrity.
“The public must be alert, and security agencies should ensure due diligence is carried out before any such recall process is legitimized,” the source emphasized.
Civil society groups and media organizations have been urged to closely monitor the situation and ensure that due process is followed.
