The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered N365.4 billion and secured 4,111 convictions in 2024, its Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has revealed.
Olukoyede disclosed this in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, at the end of a three-day retreat for EFCC directors, themed “EFCC: The Journey So Far, Ensuring Professionalism and Integrity.” He credited the achievements to the dedication and sacrifices of the commission’s staff, promising to deliver a “brand new EFCC” within six months.
“In 2024, the Commission secured 4,111 convictions and recovered over N365.4 billion,” EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said in a statement. Olukoyede urged staff to maintain professionalism and integrity, emphasising the need for a highly motivated and effective workforce.
Speaking at the event, resource person Professor Tonnie Iredia addressed public perception of the EFCC, noting that negative views often arise from misinformation. He praised Olukoyede’s leadership and called for greater public support in the fight against corruption.
