An Abuja Chief Magistrate Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of social critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, over allegations of criminal defamation against gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo.
Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna ordered his arrest after he failed to appear in court as summoned on March 5.
VeryDarkMan had alleged on social media that Chinwo diverted $345,000 in a contractual dispute with her former record label boss, Eezee Tee but her legal team presented emails and payment receipts to refute the claims.
Despite an appeal from VeryDarkMan’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, the court maintained that he must be produced by security agencies.
Separately, Chinwo has filed a N1.1 billion defamation suit against him at the High Court of the FCT, Abuja.
