A former Anambra governorship candidate, Valentine Ozigbo has resigned from the Labour Party.
Ozigbo, who ran for governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2021 and is an ally of Peter Obi, announced his departure on Wednesday.
He did not disclose his next political move but said the decision aligns with his vision for Anambra State.
In a statement, Ozigbo confirmed he had informed Obi and the party’s leadership before submitting his resignation. He described the move as a step towards “building something new” beyond party affiliations.
“Recent events have shown the need for a bold movement that speaks to the hopes and aspirations of every Anambra son and daughter,” he said.
Ozigbo’s departure comes ahead of the 2025 Anambra governorship election, raising speculation about his next steps in the state’s political landscape.
