Former Governor of Ekiti State and ex-Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has expressed deep sadness over the passing of Elder Statesman Pa Edwin Clark.
Fayemi in a statement by his media office described Pa Clark as a patriot and a towering figure in Nigerian history, whose contributions to the nation’s development were immeasurable.
The former governor also highlighted Pa Clark’s advocacy for justice, equity, and fairness, particularly his fearless voice for the Niger Delta and his staunch defense of the rights of marginalized communities.
According to him, Pa Clark’s contributions to the struggle for resource control and environmental justice remain indelible, and his leadership in the Niger Delta struggle will continue to inspire generations to come.
The passing of Pa Clark comes just days after the death of his longtime friend and fellow statesman, Pa Ayo Adebanjo. Both men were deeply committed to justice, equity, and the advancement of true federalism in Nigeria, leaving a deep void in the nation’s socio-political fabric.
Fayemi extended his deepest condolences to the Clark family, the people of the Niger Delta, and all Nigerians, praying that Pa Clark’s soul rest in peace.
