Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has paid tribute to the late Chief Ayo Adebanjo, a renowned nationalist and leader of the Afenifere group.
Recall Adebanjo passed away on yesterda, at the age of 96, leaving behind a legacy of commitment to fairness, justice, and democratic ideals.
Fayemi in a statement described Adebanjo as a “true icon of Nigeria’s democratic struggle” and a “pillar of progressive politics” who stood for fairness, justice, and the restructuring of Nigeria. He praised Adebanjo’s principled courage, wisdom, and steadfastness in speaking truth to power, which made him an enduring figure in Nigeria’s political landscape.
While mourning Adebanjo’s loss, Fayemi also celebrated his life, dedicated to the pursuit of a better Nigeria. He extended his condolences to Adebanjo’s family, the Yoruba nation, the Afenifere leadership, and all Nigerians who benefited from his leadership and goodwill. Fayemi prayed for Adebanjo’s soul to rest in peace and for God to grant his family and loved ones the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
