A tragic accident involving a DAF trailer on the Kano-Maiduguri road has claimed the lives of at least 23 passengers, with 48 others injured.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano Sector Commander, Umar Matazu, the incident occurred beneath the Muhammadu Buhari Interchange Flyover in Kano on last night.
He said the trailer, which was carrying both goods and passengers, lost control due to overspeeding with injured victims rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano for treatment.
Matazu expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and urged drivers to avoid overloading vehicles with goods, animals, and passengers as such practices were dangerous.
