Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu yesterday joined the call for the release of detained leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to apply his power of prerogative of mercy, temper justice with mercy and grant clemency to the separatist.
Kalu made the appeal while chatting with reporters after the inaugural meeting of the House of Representatives Committee on South East Development Commission (SEDC) at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
The Deputy Speaker applauded the President for his continous and tremendous support and commitment towards peace, development and stability of the South-East region.
According to him, since assuming office, President Tinubu has in various ways, proven his love for the South easterners through his speedy assent to the SEDC Bill which failed during previous assemblies.
