The Ekiti State Government has launched a two-day teacher training initiative to promote inclusive education. The program, held from January 31 to February 1, 2025, aims to enhance the teaching capabilities of educators from special and mainstream schools.
The training, attended by 130 educators, focuses on technology-driven lessons and inclusive teaching strategies. Participants are learning innovative teaching tools to create a technology-driven learning atmosphere in classrooms.

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Adolescent Girl’s Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) and the Office of the Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion. Princess Adetoun Agboola, Special Adviser to the Governor, emphasized the importance of equipping educators with the necessary skills for effective teaching in inclusive settings.
The training is part of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s vision for advancing inclusive education. The program aims to cultivate a more inclusive educational framework across the state, ensuring that students with disabilities have access to quality education alongside their peers.

Mrs. Yewande Adesua, Project Coordinator for AGILE, commended Governor Oyebanji’s dedication to improving the welfare of persons with disabilities. She noted that continuous investment in teacher training and educational infrastructure is essential for long-term progress in special education.
The two-day program marks a significant step forward in ensuring that all secondary students, regardless of their abilities, have access to effective and inclusive education in Ekiti State.
