The Federal Government has urged the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to strengthen sanctions on airlines for frequent flight delays and cancellations.
Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala-Usman, made the call during a performance review meeting in Abuja, highlighting the need for tougher measures to protect passengers.
In addition to advocating tougher penalties for erring airlines,She criticised the 224-day target for resolving customer complaints, describing it as unrealistic and misaligned with global standards, and urged a review for quicker dispute resolution.
Responding, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace management, Festus Keyamo commended the CRDCU’s diligence and pledged to enhance service delivery and enforce stricter compliance to improve passenger experience in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
