Wife of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, Mrs. Beatrice Ekweremadu, has returned to Nigeria after being convicted in the UK for organ trafficking.
In March 2023, Mrs. Ekweremadu, her husband, and a doctor, Obinna Obeta, were found guilty of facilitating the travel of a young man to the UK for exploitation.
Following a six-week trial at the Old Bailey, Mr. Ekweremadu was sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison, while his wife received a four-year and six-month sentence.
A reliable source confirmed her return on Wednesday, though details surrounding her early release remain unclear.
There has been no official statement regarding a pardon or other circumstances leading to her release.
