Lewis Hamilton, seven-time Formula 1 world champion, has driven a Ferrari Formula 1 car for the first time following his high-profile move from Mercedes to Ferrari.
The Brit, who spent 12 successful years with Mercedes, joined the iconic Prancing Horse at the end of 2024, marking one of the most historic transfers in F1 history.
Hamilton, 40, took to the Fiorano circuit, adjacent to Ferrari’s Maranello factory, on Wednesday morning, piloting the team’s 2023 car under the Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) regulations.
This session, which allows limited running of older cars, offered Hamilton an early opportunity to acclimate to Ferrari’s machinery and operational environment.
The move unites the sport’s most successful driver, with 105 race wins and seven world titles, with F1’s most decorated team, boasting 15 drivers’ and 16 constructors’ championships. Despite Ferrari’s recent struggles—having not won a title since 2008—the Scuderia ended last season strong, finishing just 14 points behind constructors’ champions McLaren.
