Ex-inmate Sunday Omisakin has been remanded in Ilesa Correctional Facility for alleged burglary, just days after Governor Ademola Adeleke granted him pardon.
This time, he is facing charges of burglary and theft after allegedly breaking into a house in Osogbo to steal a plasma television.
Omisakin, who had been granted a pardon as part of the governor’s prerogative of mercy on December 26, 2024, was released for what was described as a minor offense. However, his newfound freedom, however, was short-lived.
On January 3, 2025, he was arrested for allegedly breaking into the home of Shittu Damilare at Al-Medinat Area, Iludun, Osogbo, and stealing a plasma television valued at N600,000.
The suspect was arraigned before the Osun State Magistrate Court in Osogbo, where he faced two counts of burglary and theft. The charges were read to him by the police prosecutor, Inspector Kayode Adeoye, who outlined the details of the alleged crime.
According to the prosecutor, Omisakin unlawfully entered Damilare’s residence at around noon and stole the television, valued at N600,000. The offence, he noted, is punishable under sections 411(1)(2), 363, and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
