The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for the dismissal of Barrr. Hashim Abioye as Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), alleging that his appointment by Governor Ademola Adeleke is unconstitutional.
The APC through its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi claimed Abioye is a registered member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and contested a 2019 election on its platform.
He said the party had filed a legal case against Abioye in the Federal High Court, seeking to challenge his appointment which he noted contravened sections 197(b) 200(1)(a)of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, and contained in the First Alteration Act known as Constitutional Act No 1 dated 6th day of July, 2010.
Reacting to these claims, OSSIEC Information Officer Sadiat Isiaka dismissed the allegations as false and assured that ongoing legal cases involving the APC would not disrupt the local government elections scheduled for February.
