President Bola Tinubu has commended the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) for unanimously supporting the four Tax Reform Bills before the National Assembly.
In a statement by his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the governors for prioritising national development over regional and political divides, noting their leadership as critical to reforming Nigeria’s tax laws.
He particularly lauded NGF Chairman, Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, for uniting his peers behind the bills aimed at boosting the economy and enhancing Nigeria’s investment climate.
The President said the tax reforms were pro-poor, designed to modernise outdated tax laws, foster competitiveness and attract investments.
He also urged stakeholders to contribute to the legislative process and called on the National Assembly to fast-track the passage of the bills.
Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to working with the governors to achieve economic growth, peace, and stability, describing the NGF’s collaboration with the Presidential Tax Committee as a model for Federal-State cooperation.
