Former Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Lagos in the 2023 polls, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has spoken out against what he describes as political maneuvering following the impeachment of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
The House removed Obasa over allegations of financial misappropriation, amid reports of tension between his gubernatorial ambitions and those of President Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
Deputy Speaker, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda has been sworn in as the new Speaker.
Rhodes-Vivour questioned the timing of corruption allegations against Obasa, suggesting they coincided suspiciously with the emergence of competing gubernatorial ambitions within the APC.
“It’s interesting that the EFCC just realsed the corruption of APC Lagos politicians,” he posted on X. “Lagos is bigger than him and we must remind him that Lagos is not his to bequeath.”
