
The Nigerian Navy has successfully destroyed nine illegal refining sites and seized 35,000 litres of petroleum products in Ondo State’s Obenla community in Ilaje Local Government Area.
Commander of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Igbokoda, Navy Captain Aliyu Usman, revealed that the January 6 operation led to the discovery of 20,000 litres of crude oil and 15,000 litres of illegally refined diesel.
Usman who said the operation stemmed from credible intelligence, however claimed the perpetrators fled before the arrival of the officers.
The Commander warned Obenla residents about the dangers of harboring illegal refineries and emphasised the Navy’s commitment to clean up the environment and prevent all acts of illegalities
