Airport Approval Ruse
A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Peter Obafemi, has criticised Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s decision to host his daughter’s wedding in Ibadan, describing it as a deliberate attempt to divert attention from the deplorable state of Ekiti State’s entry roads.
Speaking to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Obafemi accused the governor of prioritising propaganda over addressing critical infrastructure challenges in the state.
“Governor Oyebanji’s decision to host his daughter’s wedding outside Ekiti is part of a ploy to cover up the dilapidated state of roads leading into our state. It is shameful that after almost eight years of APC leadership, neither the state nor the federal government has taken decisive action to fix these roads,” Obafemi said.
The PDP chieftain highlighted several key roads in terrible condition, including the Ado–Ikere–Akure Road, Omuo–Ikole–Ifaki–Ado–Ekiti Road, Ado–Ijan–Iluomoba–Ikere Road, and the Efon–Aramoko–Igede–Ado Road.
“These roads are in such a deplorable state that Ekiti has become less desirable for investors and even residents. Rather than address these critical issues, the APC administration has chosen to pretend they are working through well-funded propaganda,” Obafemi added.
He further accused the governor of using the wedding to mask the failure of the state’s aviation project. “The decision to host the wedding in Ibadan also exposes the temporary approval for chartered and unscheduled flights in Ekiti as nothing but a ruse. If our state’s aviation infrastructure was functional, why wasn’t the event hosted here?” he queried.
Obafemi expressed confidence that the PDP would unite to reclaim Ekiti State and restore its glory. “The people of Ekiti are tired of the lies and incompetence of the APC administration. I am confident that with a united PDP, we will redeem our state and set it on the path of true development,” he stated.
The governorship aspirant called on the APC to stop deceiving the people and focus on real governance, adding that the failure to fix the state’s roads was a reflection of poor leadership.
“The APC should be ashamed of its record in Ekiti. Our roads are a national embarrassment, and the people deserve better,” he concluded.
