A Spokesperson for the German Government, Christiane Hoffmann claims billionaire Elon Musk is attempting to influence the country’s elections scheduled for February 23 next year, following his public support for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD).
Musk’s endorsement, published in an opinion piece for the conservative German newspaper described the AfD as the last spark of hope for Germany sparking controversy and leading to the resignation of a senior editor in protest.
Hoffmann who acknowledged Musk’s attempt to influence the election downplayed his impact on the premise that Germany’s elections are solely for its voters to decide.
When asked about Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s stance, she declined to comment, asserting that editorial decisions are not within the chancellery’s purview.
