The Ekiti State Police Command has clarified the arrest of a human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, Stating that he was not abducted but rather arrested and is currently undergoing investigation.
According to a statement by the Command’s PRO DSP Adebutu Sunday, made available to VEONEWS on Wednesday, Farotimi was arrested in Lagos with a warrant after efforts to bring him in for interrogation proved unsuccessful
The police stated that “Farotimi’s arrest was based on a petition alleging defamation of character and cyberbullying”.
“He is currently in custody and will be arraigned once the investigation is concluded”.
The Ekiti State Police Command emphasized that Farotimi’s arrest was lawful and not an abduction
