Tiger Woods says he has a “long way to go” in his recovery from back surgery.
While the 15-time golf major champion remains optimistic about returning to competition, he admits he’s not tournament-ready yet.
“I’m just progressively trying to test it, keep making progress without setting it off,” Woods said. “I’m getting stronger, but I’ve got a long way to go to be able to compete against these guys.”
Woods who has not played since the British Open in July and has dealt with several injuries in recent years will miss the Hero World Challenge, the tournament he hosts.
“The fire still burns to compete,” he said, “but the recovery of the body to do it is not what it used to be.”
