President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s out-of-school children crisis.
Speaking during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, Tinubu stressed the importance of education in Nigeria’s development.
“In order to bridge the gap for some who are of age, and have been out of school for a while, we will encourage skills development,” the President added.
He unveiled plans to re-integrate school-age children into classrooms through innovative programs focused on motivation, skills development, and security improvements.
“The insecurity in some parts of the country makes it hard for children to return to school, but we are gradually re-populating the classrooms. And we need skills development to bridge the gaps,” the President stated.
President Macron praised Nigeria’s growth potential, pledging stronger France-Nigeria ties, and recalled his early career experiences in Lagos and Kano.
The leaders pledged to deepen collaboration, with a shared focus on education and development.
