Thanks for your wonderful investigative efforts to make the society better. I have observed that your efforts in making Lagos a better place environmentally and infrastructural is unsurparsed.
Kindly include this situation in Ifako-Gbagada to your intervention-inducing efforts
The address is:
Okeowo Somorin Street, Ifako- Gbagada. Picture attached.
This street been permanently flooded for about 3 years. It’s a road that joins the Lagos-Ojoo expressway. The flooding is causing the houses in the neighborhood to sink. Nobody is doing anything about it for 3 years now. In fact, the one -storey building seen in the attachment has since been demolished because it was sinking and about to collapse. Little children living in the houses around the water have to wade through the green heavily infested water on their way to school in the morning and back. And the houses they live in sink more and more everyday. There are even churches around there who wade inside the water every time they attend church. One particular church pumps out water every Sunday morning so that its members can enter the church.
The solution might not be more than working on the drainage of the street which appears totally blocked especially by houses recently built around there because just 4 years ago, the road was passable. Some government officials might have given permits to builders which resulted in blocking the road.
The situation is very dire. Can you PLEASE use your wonderful newspaper to investigate and alert the government so that someone can pay attention.
And while at it, can you also tell someone in government that all the roads in this area are terribly neglected. We read in the news everyday that government is working on roads in Lekki, Ikoyi, Ikeja and traffic is being diverted but we are totally forgotten.
Please come to our rescue.
