Hezbollah has announced the appointment of deputy head Naim Qassem as the successor to Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed last month in an Israeli strike in southern Beirut.
A statement by the Iran-backed group said Hezbollah’s (governing) Shura Council agreed to elect Sheikh Naim Qassem as secretary general of Hezbollah after Nasrallah’s killing.
Hezbollah pledged to keep the flame of resistance burning until victory is achieved against Israel after all-out war erupted on September 23.
Reacting, In a post on X,the Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant cautioned that Qassem’s appointment would not last long.
