INEC recently held a training for media anchors across the country on disinformation. The training is aimed at building a synergy between Journalists and the election body.
The training sponsored by the EU,had a wide range of presentations on imperatives of voter Education,Significance of election Monitoring,Impact of fake news on the 2023 General elections, Edo and Ondo Governorship elections:Imperatives of adequate training polls officials, Application of Technology in Elections, Remedies of the 2022 Electoral act.
In these trainings, the INEC facilitators enunciated the various challenges faced by INEC and called for partnership with the media, in the same vain the journalists had a heated exchange with the discussants by pointing out hitherto errors of INEC on the use of IREV and other flaws of the electoral body.
Most stakeholders interviewed by veonewsng, however expressed confidence and clarity on most grey areas as regards the conduct of INEC.
The training was held at the Radisson Blu hotel from the 25-26 of October 2024.
