Weeks after Presidential Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga hinted at possible Cabinet changes, President Bola Tinubu has approved a comprehensive restructuring of ministries and ministerial portfolios.
The changes were announced at today’s Federal Executive Council Meeting in Abuja.
The five Ministers relieved of their positions include; Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye who was Minister of Women Affairs.
Lola Ade-John who served as Minister of Tourism, Prof. Tahir Mamman who was Minister of Education as well as Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo who was Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development
Also discharged was the Minister of Youth Development Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim.
The Cabinet Reshuffle saw the reassignment of 10 ministers to new portfolios with Dr. Yusuf Sununu moved from Minister of State, Education to Minister of State, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
Dr. Tunji Alausa was redeployed from Minister of State, Health to Minister of Education while Bello Goronyo was reassigned from Minister of State, Water Resources and Sanitation to Minister of State, Works.
Others are, Abubakar Momoh from Minister of Niger Delta Development to Minister of the new Regional Development portfolio, Maigari Ahmadu was redeployed from Minister of State, Steel Development to Minister of State, Regional Development while Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite was redeployed from Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment to Minister of State, Finance.
The Cabinet change also saw John Owan Enoh move from Minister of Sports Development to Minister of State, Trade and Investment (Industry), Imaan lIbrahim from Minister of State, Police Affairs to Minister of Women Affairs.
Ayodele Olawande was upgraded from Minister of State, Youth Development to Minister of Youth Development while Dr. Iziaq Salako was moved from Minister of State, Environment to Minister of State, Health.
The President has also nominated seven new ministers, subject to the confirmation by the Senate.
They include Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction while Muhammadu Dingyadi has been nominated Minister of Labour and Employment.
The President also appointed Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Idi Maiha as Minister of Livestock Development and Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State, Foreign Affairs.
Yusuf Abdullahi Ata has been appointed Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development while Suwaiba Ahmad is named Minister of State, Education.
President Tinubu, while expressing gratitude to the outgoing ministers for their service, challenged the new and reassigned ministers to accelerate the delivery of his administration’s goals.
