The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says corruption allegations made by Senator Lola Ashiru of Kwara South is premised on personal vendetta, rather than driven by national interest.
Ashiru had during a plenary session last week claimed the agency was “corrupt and compromised.
Reacting, the Director of Media and Advocacy for the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, who was joined by the Area Commander, Narcotics, Offa claimed the lawmaker’s comments stemmed from a 2024 raid on his Ilorin residence where illicit substances were found and another raid in Offa in 2023, leading to the arrest of individuals connected to the senator for drug trafficking.
Babafemi said Ashiru’s statements were a gross abuse of his legislative position and vowed to continue its work against drug networks, undeterred by politically motivated attacks.
