The Federal Government has issued a stern warning to locals against aiding bandits in Gundumi village in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, cautioning that severe punishment will follow if caught.
The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, who gave the warning, also assured that troops would be deployed to the community as part of efforts to revive economic activities and open up critical roads in the area.
He stressed that anyone caught acting as an informant would face severe punishment, treated the same as the bandits themselves.
Commending the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji for their efforts in battling banditry, Matawalle conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s concern for the troops’ welfare and promised improved facilities to support their mission.
