The second edition of the Oseni Centre Debate, facilitated by renowned broadcast journalist Rufai Oseni, took place on Saturday in Odogbolu, Ogun State.
The event, held at the Oseni Centre which was launched last year, saw students from various schools engage in a thought-provoking discourse on the topic, “Should a leader favour National Interests or Regional Interests?”
Prince Will Academy emerged as the champion for the second time in a row, showcasing their debating prowess and maintaining their winning streak. Odogbolu Grammar School secured the second position, while Valiant College rounded out the top three.
The judging criteria for the competition were based on eloquence, the validity of points presented, and the ability to communicate effectively. These factors played a crucial role in determining the winners of this prestigious debate competition.
The event attracted a number of notable guests, including Justice Oladotun Adefope.
Before the commencement of the debate, Rufai Oseni addressed the students, expressing his pride in Odogbolu and his commitment to putting the town on the map.
Oseni, who has already facilitated the establishment of a library and medical centre in the area, hinted at an exciting new project in the works.
Without divulging full details, he mentioned that the upcoming initiative would provide students with opportunities for further self-development and the chance to gain special journalism skills.
He assured that the Oseni Centre Debate would continue to provide a platform for young minds to engage in critical thinking and public speaking, fostering the development of future leaders in Nigeria.
