The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the newly elected Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa.
The All Progressives Congress Candidate, Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 247,274 votes.
Speaking at the event, APC chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, said party faithful were elated to return as the ruling party in Edo after losing the state to PDP in 2020.
Also, Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, said Okpebholo would respect the traditions of the state and place value on education.
The election result is still under dispute by the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party.
