Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has announced the dissolution of all 44 local government caretaker chairmen in the state, effective immediately.
The Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, conveyed this in a statement on Wednesday.
The dissolution comes after the state House of Assembly had recently extended the tenure of the caretaker committees by two months, following the initial end date of September 8 to maintain governance continuity until the local government elections scheduled for October 26.
Governor Yusuf instructed the caretaker chairmen to transfer their responsibilities to the Directors of Personnel Management in their respective local government areas as the dissolution also affects vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors.
