The Nigeria Customs Service’s Federal Operations Unit Zone C has intercepted contraband valued at N510.92 million between July 15 and September 15, 2024.
Comptroller Michael Ugbagu, NCS, Zone C, said the seizures comprise 49,699 sachets of tramadol, 3,350 bottles of codeine cough syrup without NAFDAC numbers, 1,015 sacks of dry donkey meat and skin, and various other smuggled goods.
Ugbagu expressed concern over the potential impact of unregistered drugs on youth, noting that most items were intercepted along the Ewu-Okada/Benin expressways based on intelligence.
The unit also recovered N25.57 million from demand notices, totaling N536.49 million recorded within the months under review.
