A storey building collapsed during heavy rainfall on Saturday morning in Benin City, Edo State, trapping several students from the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
The incident occurred on Ekhator Street, Ekosodin, a popular area for student housing.
According to an eyewitness, some of the trapped students were rescued by a university team, with several sustaining serious injuries. The injured were quickly taken to the hospital for treatment.
However, one victim remains trapped inside the rubble. The student reportedly contacted rescuers from beneath the debris, pleading for help, and efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue the individual.
