The Nigerian Army achieved a significant victory on Thursday, September 12, 2024, by neutralising a notorious terrorist kingpin, Halilu Buzu, along with several of his fighters in Zamfara State.
Buzu was known as a close associate of the infamous terrorist leader Bello Turji.
The army launched a carefully planned offensive in Mayanchi village, Maru Local Government Area, where the terrorists had established a stronghold.
In a post on X on Friday, the Nigerian Army stated that the terrorist kingpin and his fighters fiercely resisted when confronted by the troops but were eventually overpowered.
During the operation, the army recovered an impressive cache of weapons, including rocket-propelled grenade guns, PKT guns, AK-47 rifles, and large amounts of ammunition. Additionally, they seized 30 motorcycles and destroyed the terrorists’ camp, continuing to pursue further operations in the area.
