Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen were the stars for Nigeria as the Super Eagles secured a 3-0 victory over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Saturday.
Lookman opened the scoring in the first half with a brilliant solo effort, dribbling past three defenders before firing into the net.
Benin’s goalkeeper, Saturnin Alagbe, made crucial saves, denying Samuel Chukwueze, while Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, was on hand to stop a dangerous free-kick from Steve Mounie.
In the second half, Benin Republic pressed for an equalizer, but Nigeria doubled their lead in the 78th minute through substitute Victor Osimhen, who calmly finished after being set up by Wilfred Ndidi.
Lookman sealed the win in the 82nd minute, scoring his second of the game.
The Super Eagles will face Rwanda next at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Tuesday.
