Two leaders from Okuama community in Delta State, James Oghorokor and Dennis Okugbaye, have filed a N200 million lawsuit against the Nigerian Army and the State Security Services.
They were arrested last month by military officials and have since been detained without charges.
Their legal team argues that the arrests and continued detention without court proceedings or access to legal counsel violate their fundamental rights.
The leaders, along with four others, were detained between August 18th and 20th and remain in unknown locations.
Oghorokor and Okugbaye are asking the Federal High Court in Warri to declare their arrests unlawful and order their immediate release.
They are also seeking N100 million each in damages and a court order to prevent further rights violations by the authorities.
