The Nigerian labour congress has described the current hike in fuel price as evil and inhumane, accusing the government of impoverishing the people, while they grow fat and flourish.
Head of information, Benson Upah said this during an interview, noting that the labour union will not stand by as the Bola Tinubu administration cripple national economy with unfriendly policies without effectively putting measures in place to relieve the burdens of Nigerians.
Reiterating earlier comments by the president of NLC, Joe Ajero, Upah, claimed that the present administration tricked labour into settling for the new national minimum wage of N70,000, which it is yet to implement.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had on Tuesday demanded an immediate reversal of the hike in fuel price announced by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), from ₦568 to ₦855/ ₦897 (depending on the location per litre).
