Nigeria and the People’s Republic of China have signed five significant agreements aimed at deepening bilateral relations.
The agreements were signed in Beijing on Tuesday, September 3, during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s official visit, where he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The leaders announced the elevation of Nigeria-China relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, pledging to build a high-level community with a shared future.
The agreements cover areas including the Belt and Road Initiative, nuclear energy, human resource development, and media cooperation.
President Tinubu urged that this partnership should translate into robust development, stability, and security in West Africa.
The visit precedes Tinubu’s participation in the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit, set to take place from September 4-6, 2024.
