The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the arrest of those responsible for the deaths of two police officers during a procession by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria – Shi’ites in the Federal Capital Territory.
Police had reported that Shi’ite members attacked officers, resulting in the death of two personel and leaving three others hospitalised.
But the Shi’ite group claimed that police killed and injured several of their members during the Wuse area procession.
In a statement on Monday, Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi said Egbetokun condemned the attack and demanded the capture of those involved.
The Police boss however solicited the support and understanding of the general public in its quest to maintain law and order, even in the face of extremist threats and other forms of violent crime across the country.
