Rapper Macklemore has cancelled his October 4 concert in Dubai, protesting the United Arab Emirates’ support for Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces which is a key player in Sudan’s ongoing civil war.
Macklemore announced his decision on Instagram, stating that the situation in Sudan is urgent, horrific and going largely unnoticed globally.
The artist declared he will not perform in the UAE until it stops funding and arming the RSF.
As of now, UAE officials have not responded to requests for comment on Macklemore’s decision.
