President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero has rescheduled the invitation extended to him for a meeting Nigeria Police Force headquarters.
Human Rights lawyer and NLC representative, Femi Falana, SAN, in a letter to addressed to the Inspector General of Police, explained that Ajaero had a prior engagement set for today before receiving the police invitation yesterday.
“We have the instructions of Comrade Joe Ajaero to inform you that he is unable to honour your invitation on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 in view of the fact that your invitation letter was received by him yesterday. He has an engagement that had been fixed before the receipt of the invitation letter,” the letter read.
Falana requested a new date of August 29 for the meeting and asked for clear details on the serious allegations against Ajaero, which includes; criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, and treasonable felony.
The statement emphasized that Ajaero remains prepared to cooperate with the authorities on the newly proposed date.
