The Federal Government has announced plans to recruit 3,500 new teaching staff for Federal Unity Colleges across the country.
Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, revealed this during a two-day National Stakeholders’ Forum on Senior Secondary Education in Nigeria.
While unveiling plans for extensive training for current teachers across Government owned schools, Sununu affirmed that the recruitment, alongside other strategies will enhance the quality of education.
In addition to the recruitment, Sununu spoke on the ongoing efforts to train and retrain school staff. Over 1,000 personnel have already received training in the application of technology in education through the Ministry’s research resource center.
He said more than 53 vocational skills acquisition centers have been established to address the skills needs of young people, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
