The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy,‘Bosun Tijani, has faulted the destruction of Nigeria Communication Commission Industrial Park, a technology hub in Kano, just days before its scheduled launch.
The Digital Innovation Park, designed to support Nigeria’s technical talent accelerator program (3MTT), was reportedly set ablaze and looted during the protests on Thursday.
Tijani in a social media post, described the incident as saddening, as the building was selected to host the buildathon holiday maker programme for secondary school kids starting next week, noting that the damage is a setback for the journey to deepening the workforce for technology and creating job opportunities for the youth.
The incident occurred as part of wider unrest in Kano, following nationwide protest to end bad governance and hunger in the land.
