The federal government has said it will not be blackmailed by selfish politicians who want to usurp power by using innocent young Nigerians to achieve their bad intentions.
Speaking on behalf of the President at the inauguration of the southern Nigeria traditional ruler’s council, the secretary of the government of the federation George Akume urged youths not to fall victim of mind games by enemies of the state.
Meanwhile, organisers of the planned #EndBadGovernance nationwide demonstrations slated for August have rejected the proposal by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun for confined protests.
At a meeting with the organisers today, the IGP suggested confined protests in identified locations and advised against street rallies, saying it was not advisable to go on street processions to avoid the peaceful protest being hijacked by hoodlums.
However, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, one of the lawyers for the Take It Back Movement, one of the groups organising the nationwide protests, rejected the proposal of the IGP, isnsiting on taking to the streets to express this displeasure with the government.
