President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has revealed that the amendment to the 2024 Appropriation Act, which will fund the new minimum wage, is expected to be passed on Wednesday, July 31.
Akpabio speaking after the signing of the National Minimum Wage Bill into an Act, reiterated that the national assembly will expediate action on the amendment during their emergency session on Wednesday.
The president of the senate also appealed to protesters to exercise their right to protest peacefully, without resorting to violence and destabilizing the country, noting that the President is taking active stems to address prevalent issues.
Akpabio had through the senate clerk issued an internal memorandum regarding an emergency session on Wednesday July 31, urging all senators to make all necessary arrangements to attend as issues of national importance will be discussed.
