The National Assembly has conveyed an emergency plenary session for Wednesday to address urgent legislative matters.
Although the House had commenced its annual recess on July 23, 2024, members are expected to return for this crucial session, according to a memo issued by Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria.
Similarly, a memo from the Clerk of the Senate, Francis Akubueze, announced that the Senate will also meet on Wednesday.
President of the Senate, Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, directed Senators to convene by noon to discuss pressing national issues.
Both chambers had adjourned last week, with the recess originally scheduled to continue until September 17.
Although the exact reasons for the emergency sessions were not stipulated, they may not be unconnected to planned protests scheduled to commence, August 1.
