Lagos State Government has commenced a technical test run of the Lagos redline rail system, with full operations expected by the end of September 2024.
Director of Rail Transportation at Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Olasunkanmi Okusaga, announced this during a media parley in Ikeja.
Okusaga stated that the launch is subject to final certification by the contractor but affirmed the sub-system integration, including testing of coaches and personnel, is 99% ready.
This development follows President Bola Tinubu’s inauguration of the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line project on February 29.
The 37-kilometer project is expected to reduce travel time and improve transportation in Lagos.
