The Presidency has accused supporters of the Labour Party’s candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi, of planning protests across the country.

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Onanuga, claimed that Obi’s supporters were planning to stage nationwide protests and held Obi responsible for any crisis resulting from the action.

Onanuga alleged that the same individuals who instigated the destructive ENDSARS protest in October 2020 were behind the current protest plans.

He accused IPOB members of infiltrating and hijacking the ENDSARS protest for their own agenda and linked them to the Labour Party and Peter Obi’s support base.

Onanuga identified several individuals and online profiles allegedly involved in mobilizing for the protest.

He called on security agencies to interrogate these individuals, asserting that such actions amounted to treason.

He emphasized that the Tinubu government was addressing economic challenges and that protests were unnecessary, urging citizens to wait for the 2027 elections to make leadership changes.
