The Edo State Government Insists Omobayo Godwin remains the Deputy Governor of the state despite an order of the Federal High Court in Abuja reinstating Philip Shaibu to the position he was impeached from.
Justice James Omotosho had nullified the impeachment process by the Edo State House of Assembly following their failure to comply with due process in purporting to impeach Shuaibu.
The Court also ordered the Inspector General of Police to immediately restore Shaibu’s security details and mandated the payment of his salaries and allowances from April.
But the State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare explained that the State has filed a stay of execution of the Federal High Court judgement.
The government, however, called on the people of the state to remain calm and go about their lawful businesses.
